Why get your bike fit from a Physical Therapist that’s a Clinical Bike Fit Specialist?

Anyone can turn a wrench, but not just anyone can perform an in-depth biomechanical analysis on your body and make your bike fit YOU. Fit not just to your physical shape, but to how your body moves or more importantly, where it is not moving optimally. Every joint in the body has an ability to move fluidly, and when one or more are dysfunctional, trouble can arise. Having a bike fit from a PT will not only help with injuries you may currently have, but may also prevent future ones.

Can my health insurance cover this?

Most insurances will cover some or all of the cost of your bike fit if it is correlated to a painful condition you currently have. Painful conditions include pain in your neck, back, hips, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, elbows, wrists and hands that is aggravated with riding your bike. This will fall under the benefit category of a physical therapy visit. Your individual health insurance plan deductible, co-pay and co-insurances will apply. Shawn is paneled under United Health Care, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and many others. Please call the clinic with any questions.

What if I need more than just a bike fit to take care of my painful condition?

That need will be determined at your initial visit with the Shawn. Following the assessment and bike fit, Shawn will provide recommendations on how you can self-treat with some specific exercises at home. If it is determined that you could benefit from a course of manual physical therapy, a treatment plan can be discussed and created at that time. Most injuries are stable within 6-7 visits at our facility.

I’m an aspiring triathlete and would love some help with training, but it’s overwhelming and/or an old injury is preventing me from diving in. Can you help with this?

You bet! As an IRONMAN Certified Coach, Shawn utilizes the most up to date scientific principles to get you to the race and across the finish line for whatever race you aspire to. As a PT, Shawn can put that training plan together with your functional limitations and utilize manual physical therapy principles and treatment to break the chain of pain that is holding you back.
